Spirit Sister is the blog of Vancouver, BC local Nicolle Dupas. Nicolle is a queer 25 year old makeup artist/musician who is still searching for her sole purpose in life, and who unfortunately has dealt with severe clinical depression for half of her short life. Spirit Sister is her journey spelled out in fragile words, as she feels sharing her stories, triumphs, realizations and struggles is the one of the gateways to healing and finding her way back to the light. Not to mention shedding light on what it is like to live with mental illness, and letting others living in the world with a similar condition know that they are not alone.

Spirit Sister is the ‘sister blog’ to the ‘baby’ Nicolle started in 2013 called Nic is Not in Paris, a blog centered around simple and easy beauty secrets for the everyday woman. Nicolle is a trained makeup artist, and wanted to share secrets, tips and tricks in a safe online environment for women. Along this journey, she added the mental health and wellness column of her blog, as an additional way to start sharing her own story and linking it to the blog as the ‘inner beauty’ side of things. The feedback from those close to her and strangers alike was phenomenal- growing a support network and reaching out to others who were dealing with similar life struggles. So this is the birth of Spirit Sister, a site completely dedicated to the enrichment of life by introspective journey down the rabbit hole of depression and its causes. This is Nicolle’s online journal, sharing personal struggles and triumphs, and encouraging others to face their struggles head on and see the light. It is always there.

Thank you for spending some time here, and I sincerely hope you enjoy your stay.

Sincerely, Spirit Sister (aka Nicolle).

  1. Hi Nicolle,
I’d like to interview you for a story that I’m writing for Pacific Standard (http://www.psmag.com/). The story is about using video platforms as a means to discuss mental health (I saw your YouTube and Your Voice posts).

If you’re available to chat today or tomorrow, shoot me an email nsikan.akpan[at]gmail.com

    Thank you in advance,
    Nsikan
